An appointment with Australian Hearing

Our clinicians work with each patient to find the best solutions for their specific needs.

Typically, we recommend three appointments in an initial appointment program:

Your patient will come in to Australian Hearing for an initial assessment.

  1. If they require a hearing device, we discuss the options and help them choose an appropriate hearing aid. They can choose from fully subsidised devices, or pay an additional 'top-up' amount for extra features.

We may take an ear impression to guarantee a good fit.

  2. At the second appointment, the hearing device is fitted and individually programmed to meet your patient's needs.

Your patient will receive a maintenance pack and expert guidance to help them maintain and get the best performance from their device.

  3. At the third appointment, we monitor your patient's progress, fine tune their device if necessary and provide further advice.

If your patient feels they require further assistance, we will arrange more appointments. It takes time and persistence to grow accustomed to a new hearing device, especially in the first few months, and we are happy to assist with adjustments to the device or further counselling.

Our report to you

After the last appointment (or earlier if there is a specific concern), the hearing centre will send you a report of your patient's results. It will include an audiogram illustrating their hearing ability.

Following up with your patient

At Australian Hearing we recommend a full hearing check at least every two years. This is important because your patient's hearing, or aspects of their lifestyle that affect their hearing, may have changed.

Eligible adults can receive a new OHS Voucher every two years.
